Top 5 Tips for Choosing a Venue

September 18, 2018

Are you planning a wedding, your company’s holiday party, or a big birthday celebration? Finding the right venue to host your event will be one of the most important things you do. But where to start? How do you know what to look for?

Don’t worry. We’ve compiled a list of the top 5 things to keep in mind when booking a venue.

1. Book Early.

You should try to book 4-6 months in advance. This can’t be overemphasized. Almost nothing makes planning an event more stressful than scrambling to find a venue at the last minute. Book the venue early so you can spend your time planning the other details.

2. Check the Capacity.

The venue needs to be able to accommodate all of your guests. If people are crammed together like sardines in a tin, they won’t be comfortable. The Spinning Jenny has a maximum capacity of 650. Unless you’ve got one whopper of an event, that’s plenty of room for all of your guests.

3. Check the Amenities.

There are three important amenities to look for when choosing a venue:

  • A Sound System and Stage

Unless you’ve got a really great set of pipes, you’ll likely need some way of addressing your guests during your event. You may also want to hire a band or a DJ. The Spinning Jenny is equipped with an impressive sound system and a stage. See the Tech Specs page for a full list of equipment.

  • Tables and Chairs

Your guests will want a place to sit down, especially if you're serving food. The Spinning Jenny has enough tables and chairs to seat 350.

  • Refreshments

The Spinning Jenny serves wine, beer, water, and coffee. If you’re planning on serving food, there is plenty of space for your caterer.

4. Consider the Ambience.

Setting the right mood is crucial. Sure, you can decorate any room, but there is a big difference between decorating a cookie-cutter hotel conference room and a room that already has great character. With a 12.5-foot high tin paneled ceiling, a floating maple wood floor, and chandeliers for great lighting, the Spinning Jenny has ambience where it counts.

5. Make Sure it Fits Your Budget.

Most people can’t subscribe to the “money is no object” creed. The venue needs to fit your budget. The Spinning Jenny is affordable. Contact us today for a quote.
