This past Saturday, we were able to host the second annual Future Chord Fest. This really marks a year that we've gotten serious about adding concerts to our schedule. Sarah and I were thinking about last year about this time ... we had recently obtained our alcohol license and were unsure of what to expect for this event. We laughed about how we had to leave several times throughout the night to purchase more supplies. (We have yet to find a book or website/blog that gives you step by step instruction on exactly what to do. HA!) It's really been a year of trial and error. We've under bought and over bought and stressed about very small attendance for events and more than expected attendance. We've poured over numbers while comparing events and audiences and have learned a LOT. We've added a booking agent and an A/V guy and even had an intern from Converse College.
We've bought quite a bit of equipment, enlarged our stage by 10 feet, and we're currently putting in a bathroom and expanding our green room. You know, the everyday kind of things.
And just like any other area of life, some days you feel strong and confident that you've got this and other days you just hope you can make it through. But as we take a look back over the year, we can see how far we've really come.
We now have regular concert goers -- people who support The Jenny regularly and are becoming our friends. We've met some absolutely incredible artists and made some great connections.
We've been forced to make some hard decisions that hurt in the moment, but have produced some great results later on.
And the best news ... Sarah and her husband are expecting their first child in October. (The Jenny will have a little mascot named Xander.) This little guy has already heard more live music than lots of grownups this year. :)
We are starting to book private parties and events more regularly. Our dance schedule is pretty full now and we even have some multi-day events coming up. Next year has some super exciting events planned and we can't wait to share them with you all!
PS. We have koozie swag.
